Vlc Media Player Mac Os Catalina

VLC is one of the most popular multi-platform media players, and its macOS version is getting a major update today with full support for M1 Macs. Users can now enjoy VLC running at maximum performance on Apple Silicon Macs.

Having a Mac app compatible with the Apple Silicon platform means that the software can take full advantage of the new hardware with faster performance and also better energy efficiency, which is great for MacBook users.

Compatibility: Mac OS X 10.7.5 or newer. VLC Media Player, an uncluttered, open-source and cross-platform program, supports DivX and MPEG streaming. It can play DVDs, CDs, VCDs, network streaming protocols, and various types of video files. The best video player Mac offers playlist for viewing multiple videos one after the other. I found DVD player OK in Catalina, but each time I double click in it it falls over & I repeatedly send a “Report to Apple” Luckily I can read/play my DVD’s using VLC Media Player v 3.0.6 which is 64-bit.

VLC Media Player is a great free way to access a variety of media files directly on your Mac, with no conversions required. It could stand a bit of a facelift, but overall, it's a convenient app to. Its going bad with VLC MAC catalina For many years I have VLC as my player but since Catalina, VLC is a headache. If I click the VLC icon it takes minutes and some extra pushing on that Icon to get VLC open! If its open and I opening a Video and wait too long there is no sound and has to close VLC and open again!

VLC 3.0.12 comes with a version ready for M1 Macs (and any future Macs with Apple Silicon chips). In addition, the upgrade also comes with enhancements to work properly on macOS Big Sur, a fix for audio distortions and adaptive streaming resolution, and security improvements.

Unfortunately, VLC is not yet offered with a universal binary, which means that the app now has two different versions: one for Intel Macs and one for M1 Macs. Once you update the VLC app for macOS to version 3.0.12, you must check for updates again and install version 3.0.12.1 — which is compiled for ARM machines.
